Frequently Asked Questions

  • We welcome submissions from First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists and creators of all ages. You don’t need to be a full-time or professional artist — Flowing Hearts is designed to uplift new, emerging, and unpublished voices.

  • We accept all creative mediums — including visual art, sculpture, poetry, music, digital art, and mixed media. If it can be presented in a gallery or outdoor setting, we’ll find a way to include it.

  • No. You are welcome to mail in your artwork for inclusion in the exhibition. We ask that mailed-in pieces be framed or mounted, and shadowboxes are preferred to protect the work during display.

  • Yes — all mailed-in pieces will be safely returned after the event. Return shipping will be covered at no cost for our launch exhibition. For future shows, return details will be outlined in the submission call.

  • There are no submission or curator fees for our launch event. Fee structures for future events may vary and will be clearly communicated on our website and social media.

  • Yes! We welcome musicians, storytellers, dancers, and poets to contribute to the experience. Please email us to discuss your interest in performing or collaborating on a future show.

  • At Flowing Hearts, we believe that every space can be a gallery! From coffee shops, libraries, and bookstores to parks, schools, and cultural centres — Flowing Hearts brings exhibitions to life wherever people gather. If your space can host art and community, we’d love to explore the possibility with you.

  • We’d love to hear from you! If you’re interested in transforming your space into a Flowing Hearts gallery, just reach out to nicole@flowinghearts.ca. We’ll walk you through what’s involved and explore how we can bring the experience to your community.

  • Yes — our events are promoted through Indigenous Tourism Alberta, Indigenous Tourism Canada, and other partner networks. Artists will be featured in event coverage, social media, and printed materials whenever possible.
